The internet is plagued by spam. It can get so bad that opening your email can seem a chore. You could probably never completely erradicate spam, but we have put together some tips that can help reduce the amount of spam recieved and the time spent deleting spam.

Tip 1: Never use your main email account to sign up for anything on the internet. Never put your main email address on any website on the internet and don have it in your details on any instant messenger program. Spammers use programs that crawl the internet looking for email addresses. These email harvestors will pick up your email and you will recieve spam.

Tip 2: Never ever buy anything from, click on any link in, or reply to any spam. If you do any of these things, you are basically making it worthwhile for the spammers to send spam.

Tip 4: Properly secure your mail server if you have one. Unsecure email servers are used to relay spam to millions of people. You will be faced with a hefty bandwidth charge and also the wrath of unhappy people who recieved spam origination from your server.

Tip 5: Don't give permission for companies or Web sites to share your e-mail address with partners or affiliates.

Tip 6: If setting up a new e-mail account, consider using an unusual name. Ordinary names are easy for crafty scammers to use a technique called "dictionary spamming," where unscrupulous marketers comb Internet domain for common name combinations.

Tip 7: Use a good anti spam program and filter system on your computer. Mailwasher pro is a very good one, but there are plenty toi choose from.
